2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

Hybrid technology has finally caught up with our standards.

The Sonata Hybrid features a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, an electric motor and the most advanced lithium polymer battery available. This system cranks out 206 net horsepower, and delivers exceptional 35 City and 40 Hwy MPG. Hybrid efficiency and innovative performance finally meet in the 2011 Sonata Hybrid.

Advanced Battery Technology

Compared to the nickel-metal hydride battery used in competitors’ hybrids, the Sonata Hybrid uses a polymer gel as the electrolyte in its battery. This allows for a thinner and lighter casing which translates to more cargo and interior volume. This next-generation battery is capable of delivering the same power with 25% less weight, 40% less volume and 10% more efficiency. It also discharges more slowly to maintain available power up to 1.7 times longer than traditional batteries.

Exterior

The Sonata Hybrid looks different from its traditional counterpart, but it hasn’t traded environmentalism for style. The raked roof line, modern fluid design and even specially designed 17-inch alloy wheels result in a vehicle that delivers best-in-class aerodynamics.

Space-age technology. And a lot more space.
Brilliant design and a more compact battery that fits in the trunk give the Sonata Hybrid the most interior space in its class, which leaves plenty of room for passengers and the features they love. Like power-adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, dual temperature controls and even heated front seats and rear seat bottom cushions. Plus a 4.2-inch LCD screen with hybrid technology display.
Thanks to the space-saving lithium polymer battery, the Sonata Hybrid has more passenger room than the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion hybrids. There’s more head room, more leg room in front and even plenty of room for luggage in the trunk.

Safety

Sonata Hybrid has unsurpassed safety technologies including six airbags, a reinforced unibody design, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS) and even advanced braking systems. Also, the 2011 Sonata model line has been named a “Top Safety Pick” by the IIHS.
